Our History
Bruno
Homes is a Clayton, Mo.-based residential development
and construction firm founded in 1981 by native
St. Louisan, S. Richards Bruno.
Initially, the company developed condominiums
in historic St. Louis City neighborhoods, completing
more than 150 homes. One of its early communities
was named "Best New Multifamily Development"
by St. Louis Economic Development Corp.
Bruno gradually shifted operations to St. Louis
County. His first endeavor, a New Urbanism
themed property of 100 homes in University City,
earned national honors. It was judged one of the
best new communities in the Midwest by Professional
Builder magazine and was a cover story subject
in Builder magazine.
By the mid-1990s, Bruno emerged as one of the leading developers of custom residences in Clayton and Ladue, delivering nearly 100 single-family home, townhouse and garden condominiums valued from $700,000 to more than $1.6 million.
The company most recently added Chesterfield - the “new” Clayton - to its development vista, launching three condominium projects valued at more than $30 million.
Bruno is active in industry circles. He is past-president
of the Home Builders Association of Greater St.
Louis., a two-time president of Missouri Home
Builders Association and is a life director of
the National Association of Home Builders.
All the while, Bruno's creations have earned industry
acclaim. His company has earned 31 HOMER Awards
and nine BRAVO Awards from the Home Builders Association
of Greater St. Louis. HOMER Awards are equivalent
to the film industry's Oscar while
BRAVO Awards honor accomplishments in creating
cohesive new neighborhoods.
